Beatriz Santos
Beatriz Santos (b.1996, Lisbon) is a multimedia British-Portuguese artist based in London. Her artistic practice tests the boundaries of 2D visual production, and engages with contemporary cultural debates surrounding mental health, identity and sustainability. Beatriz uses painting, papier mâché, film and poetry to explore everyday subjects drawn from life and the themes of intimacy, migration, play, domesticity and sadness. Framing is central to her practice – as a historical tradition, creative act, and as a conceptual problem.
Last year, Beatriz received a Painting MA (distinction) from the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, and was awarded a place on the Dean’s List 2024 for academic excellence. She is the winner of the 2025-6 PADA Bursary,
the 2024 Dolbey Travel Scholarship, the Royal Academy’s 2023 Richard Ford Award, the 2023 Slade Print Fair Scholarship. Before her degree at the Slade, Beatriz completed an English BA at Clare College, Cambridge, and then Art History at The Courtauld Institute of Art. Since graduating, she has exhibited internationally at Gallery A26, Beijing; DaSein Gallery, Shenzhen; the London Art Fair; and reA! Art Fair, Milan.
